In a heartwarming ceremony held at The Imperial Hotel, Janpath, the Indian team was sent off on their journey to the prestigious Physically Disabled (PD) Champions Trophy 2025. The event was marked by a powerful display of support, with Mr. Rohan Jaitley, President of the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA), leading the charge.
Mr. Jaitley addressed the gathering with words of encouragement, presenting crucial cricketing equipment such as bats, pads, gloves, and helmets to ensure the team was well-equipped for the competition. "These remarkable athletes embody the spirit of cricket, showcasing unparalleled determination. We stand with them, confident that they will make our nation proud," Mr. Jaitley said.

The ceremony also saw the participation of Mr. Ravi Kant Chauhan, Secretary General of the Differently-Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI), who expressed his admiration for the team's perseverance. "These players have displayed immense resilience to reach this stage. I have no doubt they will make their mark on the global stage, and the nation supports their journey toward victory," he added.
The tournament will feature intense competition from four strong teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and England. The Indian team, captained by Vikrant Ravindra Keni, is set to face Pakistan in their opening match on January 12, 2025.
The event has garnered widespread attention within the cricket community, thanks to the efforts of Mr. Jay Shah, Chairperson of the International Cricket Council (ICC), who has championed diversity and inclusivity in the sport.
The send-off ceremony, celebrated under the hashtag #AbJunoonJitega, not only highlighted the resilience of the Indian team but also reflected the growing support for differently-abled athletes in cricket.
